- The date of the marriage is not known for sure. The obituary of John O. King says they were married on December 23, 1919, while the obituary of Myrtle Speers says November 23, 1919. I will stick with the December date figuring the widow would remember her wedding date more accurately than her kids would when it was time for her funeral 4 years later.

- The Pantagraph obituary follows (3/23/1974). John O. King. John O. King, 73, of 4081/2 E. Market, died at 1:50 a.m. Friday at Brokaw Hospital. Mr. King worked for the Bloomington school system until he retired in 1965. Earlier he worked for the Seven-Up Co. Private family services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Beck Memorial Home, with the Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Mr. King was born May 25, 1900, in Kentucky, a son of Frank and Mary King. He married Myrtle A. Speers Dec. 23, 1919, in Gibson City. Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Catherine Collier, 513 S. State; Mrs. Darlene Schmidt, 503 Radliff Road, and Mrs. Melva Guengerich, San Diego, Calif.; two sons, John D., Elgin and Richard, Indianopolis, Ind.; a sister Mrs. Bessie Buzick, 406 S. Gridley; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Mr. King was a member of Eastview Christian Church.
