      From the memorial passed out at the funeral. David Chatham died on March 15, 1943. Services were held at the Beck Memorial Home in Bloomington, Illinois. He was buried in Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington, Illinois on March 17, 1943. The Rev. H. R. Bennett officiated. Pallbearers were Russell Davis, Albert Miller, J. R. Callans, Paul Richter, H. A. Smith and W. L. Bankson.

      The Mormon Records have his birth date as July 10, 1882 instead of 1881? and his place of birth as Pana, Christian County, Illinois instead of Assumption. According to Connie Taylor, 1881 is correct and Assumption is correct based on the following obituary.

      The Pantagraph obituary (3/15/1943) follows. David Chatham, Railroader, Dies. David Chatham died at 7:15 a. m. Monday at St. Joseph's hospital following an illness of five months. He had been seriously ill the last two weeks. He lived at 916 West Olive Street. The body was taken to the Beck memorial home where funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday. The Rev. H. R. Bennett of Park Methodist church will officiate. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery. He was born at Assumption [IL] July 10, 1881, the son of George and Virginia Chatham. He had been a railroader all his life and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. He married Miss Bessie King at Indianapolis, Ind. Aug. 22, 1904. They were the parents of five children, all of whom survive. They are O. L. Chatham, Decatur; Mrs. Hortense Dooley, 705 East Washington street; Mrs. Ila Eikenberry, 605 East Jackson street; Miss Lila Chatham, 206 South Clinton street; and Mrs. Betty Hancock, Kankakee. He married Mrs. Pansy Cook, April 16, 1938. She also survives with a step daughter, Mrs Leonard Turvill, Washington, Ill. He is also survived by the following brothers; Albert Chatham, Clinton; George and Edward Chatham, both of Taylorville.

      The Pantagraph had a followup article (3/18/1943). Chatham Rites Held. Funeral services for David Chatham were held Wednesday afternoon from the Beck memorial home. The Rev. H. R. Bennett officiated and sang, accompanied by Mrs. Arthur Eiff, organist. Pallbearers were Russell Davis, Albert Miller, J. R. Callans, Paul Richter, H. A. Smith and W. L. Bankson. Burial was in Park Hill Cemetery.
