    • The Pantagraph obituary follows. Richard E. Collier, Jr. Richard E. Collier Jr., 79, of 513 S. State St., Bloomington, died at 10:32 a.m. Friday (Sept. 27, 1996) at his residence. He was under a doctor's care. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Metzler-Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington, the Rev. Mark L. Hamner officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday until time of service in the memorial home. Memorials may be made to BroMenn Hospice or St. Luke Union Church. Surviving are his wife, Catherine E. (King) Collier; two daughters, Nancy Burgess, Orland Park and Dicksie Briggs, Bloomington; a brother, Thomas W. Collier, Carlsbad, Calif.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Mr. Collier was born Jan. 23, 1917, at Independence, Mo., a son of Richard E. and Mabel A. Wray Collier Sr. He married Catherine E. King on Aug. 24, 1940, at Center Point, Iowa. Mr. Collier was a member of St. Luke Union Church where he was active on various committees and boards. He was a member of Bloomington Scottish Rite Bodies, and Mohammed Temple Shrine of Peoria. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was awarded a purple heart and had been a POW in Germany. Mr. Collier had worked for Pantagraph Printing and Stationary Co. in Bloominton for more than 30 years, retiring in 1982.
